Creative Development - 5 Events That Has Influenced A Fashion Trend

I have decided to point out 5 events from the 60's which have helped influenced a fashion trend at the time.

  1. The Beatles -
When The Beatles became quite a success and became a sensation, they became an influence on the fashion at the time. They had influenced the young men's fashion sense and also the hairstyles as well. The mop top was a popular haircut to have at the time and also the "Beatle boots" was created.
The "Beatle boot" was a tight fittig ankle high boot, with The Beatles wearing these, this brought back the high heeled footwear for men.

2.  The Hippie Movement -
The Hippie Movement which happened in the middle of the decade became a strong influence on clothing styles. The tie dye on fabrics which created a mixture of bright colours was a popular choice with clothing, also paisley print was quite common. Hippies brought in the bell bottom jeans, which were fashionable for both men and women at the time.

3. The Miniskirt -
In the late 1960's the miniskirt was seen as a controversial item that had been created, women used to be well covered up with what they would wear out in public,so you can understand why this became a shock to some people. It was seen as a "youthful protest of international threats to peace". The model at the time Jean Shrimpton also helped the trend set off when, she was seen wearing it at the Melbourne, Australia Victoria Derby, this caused a stir in the media and also the community.

4. The Bikini -
The bikini came into fashion in 1963 after being featured in the film "Beach Party". It became popular when "The Bond" girl at the time Ursula Andress was seen wearing a white one and emerging from the sea after this they became quite popular. In 1962, Playboy featured a bikini on its cover for the first time.

5. Hairstyles -
Hairstyles from bother genders had changed and kept changing throughout the decade. The women had "beehive hairdos", "the birds nest". Short hairstyles became popular when model Twiggy was sporting a pixie cut at the time, this influenced women to cut their hair shorter. For the men, the styles were "the flatop", "the mop top" and the short, parted hair.
